Have you ever felt your color faded too fast? Let’s explore some reasons why this may happen.
*It can be as simple as turning down the heat of your water when you’re washing your hair AND when using your hot tools. Hot water opens your hair cuticle and robs your hair of moisture and allowing color pigments to escape down your drain. Washing too frequently will also cause color fading too fast. Limiting washings to 1-3 times per week is best. Summer months where we try to soak up all the sunshine we can will also contribute to fading. Wearing your hair up or covered is best. Chlorine and salt water are also harsh on color treated hair, causing your color to fade. Hot tools can scorch pigment from your hair; we recommend keeping hot tools to 350 degrees or lower. Always use a heat protectant before any hot tool touches your hair. This surrounds hair in a protective layer keeping your hair healthy. Lastly, make to sure to use color safe shampoo and conditioner; your stylist will recommend the best for your hair type.
Styling your hair can be a pain, we get it. Let’s dive into some common reasons.
*You loved your hair when you left, now it’s your turn to style it…not the same. First is a great shampoo (maybe twice) and a conditioner for your hair type. Some benefit from only conditioning their midshaft and ends to preserve more volume mat the root. What styling products are you using? We may cocktail a couple for the gorgeous result you leave with. Ask your stylist what she is using, they usually know best what works for the result your looking for. Power drying your hair maybe beneficial (depending on hair type) before picking up any brush. Sectioning your hair will provide more detail and not be overwhelming. If all fails, your stylist would love to teach you step by step how to. We can give you the tools and assist with all the details to make it a success for you.

Frizz/Dryness or too Oily?
Frizz and dryness is usually a lack of moisture. Using products to put the moisture back into your hair is key. Your stylist will prescribe the perfect combination of shampoo, conditioner, conditioning treatment, and stylers to promote healthy hair. Turning down the heat on your tools is also necessary. Oily scalp can be easily handled with a proper shampoo, not using conditioner on your scalp, power drying your root area and a dry shampoo applied right after your blowdry. Being mindful to not run your hands through your hair to often, which transfers oils to your hair.
Curls not staying curled?
We’ve seen this client and we can help. Sometimes it is a difficult task even for us. Starting with a cocktailing regimen will assist in longevity. We layer products on difficult to curl hair for style support. This could be a mousse. texturizing cream, volumizing product, ect; all which help with longer style support. Next is a good heat protectant and gripping styler such as a texturizing spray or hairspray. Spray each section a couple seconds before applying your curling iron/wand. When releasing the curls leave them in their curled form to cool completely. Before working through curls spray a light coat of hairspray all around and let dry. Gently work through your curls with your fingers or a wide tooth comb. Lightly work your styled hair to your liking, don’t over work curls too much. Spray one more light coat of hairspray and leave them alone.
